I have been thinking it’s about time I made a post about the graduate exhibition. I had great conversations with people looking at my work and the majority of people wanted to know how I made them. However no one asked what they were about.
The name of this body of work is “Jars of Clay”. The term “jars of clay” is a biblical metaphor used in 2 Corinthians 4:7 “But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all surpassing power is from God and not from us”. We are the jars of clay, weak and breakable, the treasure is the knowledge of God’s glory. Be very careful at this point not to apply the metaphor too literally to my work as it would not be what I, the artist intended. The Jars are no more or less than an abstract representation of the breakable and fleeting human body
